Perfect for a bit of BMX nostalgia, the 1980s MK1 Raleigh Super Tuff Burner returns to entertain a new generation.
But it returns in limited numbers, with the expectation that this cult classic will be snapped up quickly. So if you want to surprise your kids (or relive your own youth) then you need to be on top of this.
The MK1 Raleigh Super Tuff Burner dates back to 1983 and is still one of the most recognisable BMX bikes around. Just look at it – that gold chrome finish is so of its era and still has a look of luxury today when set against the black used for the rest of the detailing.
Note also the black skyway mag wheels and the double hole frame with looptail rear, trademarks of this particular model.
Want one? That might be the tough bit. This was a much sought-after bike back in its day and with that in mind, there is going to be strong nostalgia demand for this model, which is being made in limited numbers.
But Raleigh isn’t just pitching this at one-time BMX-ers. This is also a bike being sold as a genuine alternative for kids of today who want to stand out from the crowd. Although ultimately, it’s the parents who will be paying out the cash regardless.
I don’t know how much cash that will involve just yet. Raleigh has just released details, with pre-orders available from 14th August 2019, which is when the price will be available. I’m guessing ‘not cheap’, but if you really want one, the price might not be an issue.
