The Super Mario Bros game dates back to the early 1980s, so it’s unlikely that your kids will be familiar with the original. But the characters have managed to live on through subsequent sequels and spin-offs, so the idea of the Super Mario Bros Classic Monopoly as a family game should still be quite popular.
In fact, with the addition of these wonderfully colourful characters and the distinctive 8-but look, it might well be even more popular than the original.
The rules should be easy to pick up too. Essentially this is Classic Monopoly meets equally classic 8-bit Super Mario Bros, so the the look might have changed, but thee game is just the same.
Play as 8-bit Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, Toad, Super Mushroom, or 1-Up Mushroom, and conquer the kingdom before your opponents can. Custom 8-bit goal posts and castles replace the traditional houses and hotels, with plenty of other references from the console stars dotted in there too (Community Chest and Chance Cards renamed ‘? Block’ and ‘Warp Pipe’ for example).
Hard to find one right now, but you can get it via ThinkGeek, which ships worldwide thankfully. $44.99 is the price.
