You know those occasions when you start looking for something online and find something else completely different, but so much better? That’s how we encountered the wonderful Kinderbaby Vespa scooter for kids.
Sadly, you can’t buy these new anymore. But you can find vintage models. More on that in a moment. For now, let’s look at the scoot itself.
The one pictured here is a model that was never used and as such, gives us a good idea of what came out of the factory. Essentially a replica of a Vespa of the day (we think a Vespa 50), the scooter was sold in the 1970s and comes with a plastic seat, rubber wheels and a kind of ratchet system that means pushing the pedals operates the back wheel. The front light almost certainly didn’t function. But that’s a minor quibble about an amazing toy.
As we said, these things are not available anymore and as far as we know, the company making them no longer exists. But they do appear for sale in vintage form.
The Kinderbaby featured on this page is an eBay listing (now closed) but an interesting insight into the toy scooter and its value. The one here in excellent, possibly unused condition sold for 800 Euros, although a browse around suggests a much cheaper price if you are willing to do some renovation if your own.
Keep an eye on Kinderbaby on eBay if you are interested. It could be a great toy for your kids and a great investment piece for the future. We certainly have one on our radar.
