Have you got a music-loving teen in the house who likes the idea of being hands on? This Korg LittleBits Analog Synth Kit could be the ideal gift.

It is, as you might have guessed, a DIY project for making an old school synth, aimed at kids of 14 and up (and adults too presumably). The kit features what are described as ‘small, simple, intuitive, electronic modules’, which comes together to create more complex structures without the need for much (if any) expertise in the field.

In fact, the system uses 12 ‘magnetically connectable modules’ that snap together to make a larger circuit / synth, which then connects to speakers, computers and headphones.

In all, the set contains:

1 x Power Module
1 x Micro Sequencer
1 x Mix Module
2 x Oscillators
1 x Envelope
1 x Split Module
1 x Random Module
1 x Filter
1 x Synth Speaker
1 x Keyboard
1 x Delay
1 x Battery & Cable

A project to keep kids busy and loads of fun when it’s built. The one downside is perhaps the price, with the kit retailing for £129.
