Flying a kit seems to be a forgotten pastime, but you can bring it back in some style with this traditional Diamond Kite.
No novelty here, except maybe the novelty of flying the kind of kite you would have seen in the 1950s. This is vintage, but practical vintage too. Seek out a moderately windy day (most days round here), construct your kite, then watch it sail through the sky, trailed by those multicoloured bows.
It comes flat-packed, but the instructions should have you airborne in no time at all. Just be careful bringing it in.
It sells for £14.50, but note that the small parts might be a problem for children under three.
