Looking to avoid the shops in the run-up to Christmas? Good luck with that one. But if you do manage to find a shopping-free day, we have the perfect family activity – a trip to the cinema to see The Muppet Christmas Carol.
The film is heading back round the cinemas to celebrate its 20th anniversary and is on the big screen in an all-new digital print. If you or your children are fans of the Muppets, it’s certainly not one to miss.
If you haven’t seen it (but we suspect you have), this is, of course, the Charles Dickens classic. Michael Caine plays the old miser Scrooge with Kermit as his long-suffering but ever-hopeful employee Bob Cratchit, Miss Piggy as Cratchit’s wife, and a host of Muppets (including Gonzo as an unlikely Charles Dickens) taking other lead roles in this timeless gem.
It isn’t showing at every cinema and in every town, but it is showing at a good number throughout the country from 23rd November 2012. Check locally for screening dates and times. But if you are in London, it is showing at the BFI Southbank for pretty much the whole of December.
