I think these are supposed to be playthings, but you would be very brave to let your kids play with the Vitra Doll Range by Alexander Girard.
Which leaves them as cool decorative objects for a room – turning your child’s room into one of the hippest places in town. The dolls were originally created for Girard’s own home in Sante Fe made by himself in the early ’60s and inspired by his own extensive collection of popular art.
No longer just for personal use, they have now been reissued by Vitra (based on the originals held by the company) and are available widely. Most are available from Heal’s, but as you might expect, they don’t come cheap. The price is £84 each.
