When a toy has been around for 50 years, I think it’s fair to say it is a classic. So that’s how we’re referring to the Fisher Price Chatter Phone.
Designed for children aged two to six, this pull toy makes sounds and has shifting eyes when it is moved. There’s also a rotary dial and handset, because it was made to teach kids how to use a conventional home phone, would you believe.
All these years on and it still amusing and educating kids all over the world, but you have to shop carefully when you buy.
The one pictured here is the vintage version, reissued as part of a Retro Classics range, selling at Selfridges for £14.99.
For the more modern version pictured below, check out Smyths, which has those for a bargain £4.99.
Finally, dig around eBay, with models both old and new always up for auction.
